Ongoing IT support

Day-to-day IT problems rarely wait for a convenient moment. A printer stops scanning, a new starter needs a laptop on Monday, the accounts software needs updating before the year end, and someone has to deal with it. If that someone is a member of staff who is good with computers, their real job suffers.

Ongoing support is provided through Birchall Reality, my IT support company, which looks after more than 45 businesses on managed monthly contracts. It sits alongside any planning or project work, so the people supporting you day to day know how your systems were set up and why.

Hardware and software licences are sourced through trusted, licensed suppliers, and staff can be trained on security awareness and Microsoft 365. The systems your industry runs on are supported too, from Sage for accountants to ALB and LEAP for solicitors.

If you also need someone setting the direction, fractional CTO support covers planning and supplier management.

What it involves

  • Managed monthly support

Day-to-day help on a managed monthly contract, from sign-in problems and printers to new starters and leavers, through Birchall Reality.

  • Hardware and licences

Laptops, servers, network kit and software licences specified and sourced through trusted, licensed suppliers, so you buy what you need and nothing more.

  • Staff training

Security awareness sessions, phishing tests and Microsoft 365 training, so staff know what to look out for and get more from the tools they use.

  • Industry systems

Sage 50, Sage 200 and Payroll for accountants, ALB and LEAP for solicitors, Storman for self storage, and spa booking systems, all kept up to date and supported.

Questions about ongoing IT support

Can you work alongside our existing IT provider?

Yes. Some businesses keep their provider for the helpdesk and bring me in for projects, reviews or a particular system such as Sage or LEAP. I’ll work with them openly and keep them informed, so nothing falls between the two of us.

Do you support businesses remotely?

Yes. Most day-to-day issues can be fixed remotely, which is how I support businesses across the UK. Clients in North Wales and Cheshire also get on-site visits when a job needs hands on the equipment, such as cabling, new hardware or a network fault.

Why buy hardware and licences through you?

I specify what you need first, so you don’t pay for higher licences or more powerful kit than the job needs. Everything comes through trusted, licensed suppliers, so licences are genuine and warranties are valid, and it’s set up properly before it reaches your staff.
