Phone systems and devices

Phones and printers tend to be bought separately, from different suppliers at different times. That leaves a phone system nobody knows how to change, and a printer that stopped scanning to email when the passwords changed. Then there’s the meeting room screen people avoid because the call never quite connects.

I set these up as part of your IT. That covers VoIP and hosted phones, including Teams Phone and 3CX, chosen for how your business takes calls. It covers printers, scan-to-email and managed print, and Apple devices managed through Apple Business Manager. I also set up meeting rooms and video conferencing. For phone lines I partner with Challenger CMC in Deeside, and your lines and calls are billed by them.

Phones and devices sign in through your Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace accounts, so it helps to have those set up properly first.

What it involves

  • VoIP and hosted phones

Teams Phone or 3CX and other hosted systems, with your numbers moved across and call routing set up for how your business takes calls.

  • Printers and scanning

Multifunction printers and scan-to-email set up to work with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, and managed print where it saves money and hassle.

  • Apple devices

Apple devices enrolled through Apple Business Manager and managed alongside your Windows devices, so company settings and apps arrive automatically.

  • Meeting rooms

Practical set-ups for Teams Rooms, video calls and screens in meeting rooms, kept to what the room needs and what your staff will use.

Questions about help with phones or devices

Can we keep our phone numbers if we move to VoIP?

Yes. Existing numbers, including landline numbers, can be moved to a new VoIP or Teams Phone provider. I’ll handle the transfer with your new provider and time the switch to cause as little disruption as possible.

Should we choose Teams Phone or 3CX?

If your staff already work in Microsoft Teams all day, Teams Phone keeps calls in the same place and is simple to manage. 3CX suits businesses that want a more traditional set-up with desk phones, a reception and call queues. I’ll look at how your calls come in and recommend one.

The old phone lines are being switched off. What do we need to do?

The UK’s analogue phone network is being replaced with digital lines, so anything still using a traditional landline needs checking. That includes phones, and also alarms, lift lines, card machines and fax. I’ll list what’s connected and move each item to VoIP or a suitable alternative.
